The Forest Plan will set out our approach to deliver the vision and priorities for a greener, healthier and more resilient North East England. It will guide our work across the region, focusing on the following key areas:
Why prepare a Forest Plan?
Nature Recovery Protecting, improving, and connecting our woodlands to support biodiversity, habitat connectivity and species movement across the landscape.
Supporting landowners and farmers Helping landmangers enhance their businesses while delivering environmental benefits, such as improved sol health, biodiversity and carbon storage.
Engaging communities and businesses working together to create healthier, accessible green spaces that support wellbeing and bring people closer to nature.
Targeted Collaboration: Identifying key landowners, stakeholders and priority areas where partnership working can have the greatest impact.

Natural Flood Management and Greening Urban Areas Supporting nature based solutions (NBS) to manage flood risk and enhance climate resilience in both urban and rural places.
Expanding and Managing Tree Cover Supporting local authorities and other landowners to manage and expand their tree stock.
Shaping Future Funding Attracting public and private investment to support woodland creation and longterm stewardship across the region
